This one-of-a-kind children’s writing workshop features a hands-on approach to creative writing. The workshop is designed to help spark children’s imaginations and tap their individual creativity, while introducing them to the writing craft. Children ages 8–13 will learn basic elements of writing a creative story and begin crafting their very own children’s book. Space is extrememly limited and preregistration is required at

La Dasha Roberts’ first book, Lily Pad Diva, is a motivational children’s book that teaches readers to manifest their destiny and achieve their dreams. Roberts is an Alexandria native and holds an associate degree from Northwestern State University. She is currently in the process of starting her own publishing company, Vision Without Walls.

Sankofa Cultural Collective’s Kuumba Creativity Workshops are offered free of charge and introduce participants to cultural arts and crafts rooted in African and African American traditions. Instructed my master crafts persons, artists and artisans, the workshops generate interest and participation in the arts and culture, provide outlets for creative expression, and celebrate the rich diversity and creativity of African American culture.
