The Ashcan movement refers to group of artists in the early 20th century that rebelled against Impressionism by portraying grittier, urban subject matter, capturing daily life in New York City. We will be looking at an Ashcan painting and then creating our own works of art based on views of Downtown Alexandria. This is a beginner’s level class and is open to all ages.

Bring the family. Bring a friend or come on your own and enjoy learning the basics of Ashcan painting.

FREE to members and $20 for non-members (up to 5 per group)

Registration required in advance. No drop ins the day of workshop.
