Garden District Mardi Gras Promenade and Block Party

Event Category:
Festivals
Start Date:
February 10, 2018
End Date:
February 10, 2018
Location:
Corner of Albert and 20th Streets, Alexandria Garden District
We have modeled our Garden District Promenade and Block Party after the Courir de Mardi Gras tradition. Several Cajun towns still host Courir de Mardi Gras, a ceremonial run believed to have roots in begging customs. The people travel the area asking for ingredients to make a communal gumbo to be enjoyed together. In our version, we will dress in costume and promenade through the streets begging for donations for the Food Bank of Central Louisiana!

Bring a donation for the Food Bank of Central Louisiana and come dressed in your best Mardi Gras gauche!

We will have a neighborhood promenade at 3 pm and Rod Baronet playing at 4 pm.
