 The Alexandria Museum of Art is partnering with our favorite knitting group, The Red River Stitchers to host a series of monthly stich-ins During the stitch ins, partipants can learn to create scarves, hats and plastic matts for the homeless. Beginners are welcomed!

This is FREE event! We can provide yarn and a limited supply of knitting needles and crochet hooks, on a first come first serve basis. If you would like to purchase your own needles and hooks,and you are making a matt, please purchase a Size Q hook. If you are a beginning knitter purchase needles larger than size 7.

These events are in conjunction with our upcoming exhibitions, Sordid and Sacred: The Beggars in Rembrandt's Etching and Concrete and Adrift: On the Poverty Line, opening on March 1st. These exhibitions will explore the issues of homelessness and poverty. During this exhibition period the museum will be partnering with various community groups to do what we can to help our community deal with these issues.
